Génome Québec commends the federal government’s contribution to research

The President and CEO of Génome Québec, Daniel Coderre, applauds Ottawa’s decision to invest $40 million in research on sequencing the genomes of the virus and of patients to better understand the behaviour and evolution of the virus, as well as the different immune reactions by patients. The initiative is part of a $1 billion package of measures announced today by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau in support of medical research into COVID-19.

Canada SynBio 2020 is postponed

Given the situation around COVID-19 and actions being taken by the Canadian, Quebec and Ontario governments, the Canada SynBio conference, which was supposed to take place on June 3rd in Montreal, is postponed. The health and wellbeing of the attendees, speakers, staff and general public remains the top priority.

Ovarian and endometrial cancers: $ 6M closer to a lifesaving screening pap test

Genome Québec is happy to report that Dr. Lucy Gilbert’s research team will receive $ 6.24 million in Genomics Applications Partnership Program (GAPP) funding grant to finalize the development of DOvEEgene (Detecting Ovarian and Endometrial cancers Early using genomics)—a screening test that could save thousands of lives every year in Canada and millions of lives worldwide.
