  • Génome Québec Social Media Guidelines and Best Practices

If you’re a science enthusiast, a fan of genetic sequencing or just someone who wants to learn more about genomics, you’ve come to the right place!

Génome Québec is pleased to welcome you to its various platforms, where you can get informed and share your views on the latest developments in genomics here and around the world. We are counting on you to show good judgment (scientific or otherwise!), courtesy and respect, whether you are on our Web site, Facebook page, Twitter or LinkedIn feeds.

Please note that our interactive platforms are not forums meant to answer specific
science-related questions. If you are from the media, we can provide you with quality resources and viewpoints about our research areas. Simply email our public relations office. If you are a member of the public and have technical questions or need specific information about genomics, we invite you to browse the Public Portal of the Génome Québec Web site and our Glossary.

In an effort to encourage harmonious exchanges on our platforms, we ask that you read the following guidelines and best practices on the use of social media.

»  Content considered defamatory, sexist, racist or otherwise discriminatory, abusive, offensive or partisan, and information that violates another person’s privacy, are not permitted on our platforms and will be removed without notice. For the benefit of all users, comments considered insulting or inflammatory will also be removed without notice.

»  If it is brought to the attention of Génome Québec that any content, images or photos posted on any of its platforms could violate the Copyright Act, the said content, images or photos will be removed without notice.

»  Remember that typing a message in uppercase letters is considered shouting. Comments written in lowercase are just as valid and much more pleasant to read.

»  You are encouraged to post comments that are connected to the topic being discussed. Posting ads of any kind or links to Web sites that are off topic is not permitted.

»  Adding hyperlinks to other Web sites is authorized as long as the content is related to the topic at hand. Please note that Génome Québec is not responsible for the content of external Web sites.

»  When you use Facebook, you agree to comply with the Facebook Terms and Policies, which govern the relationship between users and the Web site. By posting on our page, you acknowledge the public nature of Facebook. You are responsible for your Facebook postings.

»  We advise against posting personal information or details of any kind that could make you liable to a third party.

»  We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these guidelines.

»  While we are very open-minded, we reserve the right to remove a comment, ban a user or even modify these guidelines at any time without notice.
