World Cancer Day

On this February 4, Génome Québec wishes to underline the paramount importance of research in the fight against this disease that claims 80,000 Canadians every year.

Since 2002, we have participated in the funding of 15 research projects on cancer. This represents an investment of $73M from Génome Québec and its partners.

These researches have permitted the advancement of knowledge on cancer, the potential development of treatments to fight it and the identification of promising leads for prevention.

Genomics research allows researchers to push the boundaries of science on a daily basis, all for the benefit of society. By unravelling the mystery of the genome, researchers are able to better study diseases. Genomics provides them with a better understanding of why some people develop diseases while others stay healthy their entire lives.
