Major breakthrough in Genomics and Precision Health: Nada Jabodo’s team uncover the cellular origin of aggressive pediatric brain tumors.

New evidence suggests that a stalled development of certain key cells may be the root of aggressive pediatric brain tumors.



That is what a research team led by Nada Jabado, of the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC), together with Michael Taylor, of the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) and Claudia Kleinman, a researcher at the Lady Davis Institute at the Jewish General Hospital discovered.

The results of this big international research project funded by Génome Québec, Génome Canada and other partners were published in Nature Genetics. Through reading, we learn that the cornerstone to fighting these aggressive tumors is to identify the biological process underlying their development. This research effort is funded as part of the Competitions - Large-Scale Applied Research Project Competition Genomics and Precision Health lauched by Genome Canada.
