About Sylvain Meloche

Sylvain Meloche, Ph.D., is a senior researcher at the Institut de recherche en immunologie et en cancérologie at the Université de Montréal. He also holds a Canada Research Chair in cellular signalling. Following doctoral studies in molecular pharmacology at the Université de Montréal, Sylvain Meloche did postdoctoral work in immunology at the Institut de recherches cliniques de Montréal and further postdoctoral work in biochemistry at the Université de Nice in France. In 1992, Dr. Meloche started his teaching career and began his research activities at the Centre hospitalier de l’Université de Montréal. More recently, since his arrival at the IRIC in 2003, Sylvain Meloche has helped identify the mechanisms that regulate the protein p27 and showed that it plays a very important role in the development of tumours. He is also pursuing his work on the MAP kinase enzyme family through a genetic approach, in particular by creating models of mice deficient in these enzymes.
