About Pierre Thibault

Pierre Thibault is professeur of chemistry and pricipal investigator at the Institute for Research in Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) at Université de Montréal where he leads the proteomics research unit. He holds a Canada Research Chair in proteomics and bioanalytical mass spectrometry at Université de Montréal. His group uses quantitative proteomics approaches to study the molecular mechanisms and the post-translational modifications regulating the functions of proteins involved in cell immunity and in the signaling of cancer cells.

His group developed novel proteomics approaches to identify and quantify proteins and their post-translational modifications (e.g. phosphorylation, acetylation, sumoylation, ubiquitylation) present at low abundance in cell extracts. These tools are used in different research programs to gain further insights into complex biological mechanisms such as organelle biogenesis, cell signaling in cancer, and antigen presentation by the major histocompatibility complex class I in immune response.
