Génome Québec salutes the creation of a research Chair in cardiovascular genetics thanks to the generous donation by National Bank


Dr. Fabrice Brunet, Chief Executive Officer at CHU Sainte-Justine, and Ms. Anièle Lecoq, President and Chief Executive Officer at CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation, announced on Friday, June 20, in the presence of Mr. Louis Vachon, President and Chief Executive Officer of National Bank, the creation of a research Chair in cardiovascular genetics made possible by National Bank's donation.

Ottawa, Ontario, June 16, 2014 — Genome Canada, in partnership with the Western Grains Research Foundation (WGRF), today launched a Request for Applications for the 2014 Large-Scale Applied Research Project Competition: Genomics and Feeding the Future. The Competition will support research projects that will create new knowledge and inform public policy for Canada’s agri-food and fisheries & aquaculture sectors and contribute solutions that can help feed the world’s growing population. Génome Québec salutes the 2nd Conifer Genome Summit

The second Conifer Genome Summit is being held in Québec this week. The event takes place in the Forêt Montmorency and brings together sixty researchers from Europe and North America. This meeting follows on the first summit held in Sweden last year at the same time, in Björkliden, Lapland above the Arctic Circle.

Génome Québec is proud to recognize a major investment by AmorChem for Acute Myeloid Leukemia

AmorChem investment of $1.5 million will serve to develop new diagnostic and prognostic tools for acute myeloid leukemia (AML) patients to predict how they should be treated based on the genetic make-up of their tumor. 


This funding is part of a multi-institution initiative led by Dr. Guy Sauvageau, Chief Executive Officer and Principal Investigator of the Institute for Research and Immunology and Cancer (IRIC) at the Université de Montréal and by Dr. Josée Hébert, Associate Investigator at IRIC and Director of the Québec Leukemia Cell Bank and hematologist at Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital.
