$3M to accelerate the integration of genomics into clinical practice

Génome Québec, in partnership with Genome Canada, is pleased to announce that two CARTaGENE scientific directors, Guillaume Lettre, PhD and Simon Gravel, PhD, have been awarded funding of more than $3 million for the GenoRef-Q Initiative. This initiative will sequence the genome of more than 2000 participants from previously genotyped individuals recruited for the CARTaGENE population-based cohort.

Génome Québec warmly congratulates Dr. Guy A. Rouleau for his appointment as an Officer of the Order of Canada, one of our country’s highest civilian honors. Created in 1967, the Order of Canada recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation.

 

Dr. Guy A. Rouleau receives this honor for his excellence in clinical care and research, and for championing open science principles in the neuroscience community.

Access to data and samples from the Biobanque québécoise de la COVID-19

Oct. 16, 2020

The Biobanque québécoise de la COVID-19 (BQC19), Génome Québec and the Québec COVID - Pandemic Network (QCPN) invite the scientific community to submit their requests for access to the BQC19 data and samples, starting October 15, 2020.

 

The data-only access process will be continuous and will provide immediate access to currently available data. Currently, these correspond to genome-wide genotyping, host genome sequencing, and clinical data on more than 500 BQC19 participants, divided between SARS-CoV-2 positive participants and control cases. The process will be extended to other data as it becomes available.

 

Applications including biological samples will be processed through a competitive process to ensure optimal use of the samples. Three competitions will be organized per year. Applications for the first competition are accepted from October 15 to November 16, 2020. Access will be given following completion of the evaluation process in January 2021.

The decision was unanimously endorsed by the Board of Directors on September 23, 2020. Ms. Lord-Fontaine will be taking up her duties on October 19, 2020.

World Anti-Doping Agency and the Fonds de recherche du Québec have joined together to launch a Request for Applications that aims to develop biomarkers of doping
