The medical genetics laboratory at CHU Sainte-Justine analyzes samples taken from children with leukemia in order to detect chromosome changes, thus contributing to the accuracy of diagnosis and prognosis and to the choice of treatment used. At the moment, this requires a combination of different methods. A new technology, known as optical mapping, could replace all these techniques, leading to faster results and lower costs. The aim of this project is to evaluate the new technology as a potential substitute for the current methods employed to analyze samples from children with leukemia who are being treated at CHU Sainte Justine.
