Genomics and agriculture - for competitive and innovative products

Discover how genomics is helping Canadians create high value products, gain a more diverse global market share, and increase exports.


Each week, our team will present a video on the impact of genomics in key sectors of Québec's economy. Next week, the energy sector.



Creating enough food for our growing global population is a major challenge. Using genomics to study the DNA of plants and animals, we can develop ways to increase production, reduce costs, improve sustainability and withstand climate change.


For example, genomics can help us with disease and insect management and, in some cases, this can lead to reduced need for pesticides or other chemical inputs.
